◮ Taupo ◭

Taupo is in the center of the North Island and is a popular destination for bungee jumping, water activities and hot pools. I arrived excited to be settling down in area for an extended amount of time. In New Zealand, there are a lot of jobs available to backpackers, posted on various sites such as backpackerguide.co.nz or backpackerboard.co.nz. When I arrived in Taupo, I had previously arranged a work-for-accommodation with one of the hostels. My sister had worked at Rainbow Lodge two years ago and so I thought I would use my connections to get the job.

I lived and worked here for two weeks and got to experience everything that Taupo had to offer. Hiking Mt Tauhara, river floats and parties in the hot springs. It also included making beds every day for two hours, which is easy work for a free bed. I lived here for two weeks before moving on, excited to see more of New Zealand and what else it has to offer.
